We were proud to support the 30th anniversary of the Michener Art Museum with a flexible and delightful brand system. To accommodate the wide array of events, celebrations, and exhibits taking place in conjunction with the anniversary we developed a modular system around "30 Years". The brand extended to marketing collateral, collector's items, and the exhibition.
Among all the initiatives, there was one we took the most pride in. To take things a step further, we set out on a mission to fabricate a "life-size" installation of the brand.
Working with our partners at Bob Shaw Signs we were able to design a solution that would allow us the ability to custom fabricate these massive channel letters, made from aluminum. Next, the channel letters were formed and placed on a large - also hollow - platform. We layered vinyl lettering on the platform and filled it with sandbags for safety. To beautify the piece we had a custom "face" created for both digits with frosted plexiglass. These fit snugly over the channel letters and worked to create a uniform look.
Hidden inside the letters we installed remote-controlled LED color bars. With the remote system, they could be set to rotate through preset colors over a time loop.
Standing at 5' tall and 5.5' wide, the structure made its presence know at the 30th-anniversary gala and exhibition opening.
We donated the design, fabrication, and installation of the 30 Years structure in honor of the Museum's anniversary.
